Giza is a Necropolis, and it consists in a complex of pyramids, being the Great Pyramid of Giza the only remaining building of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. It is also an UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Where?
It is located in Egypt, which is in the North-East of Africa. This city stands in the Sahara desert, along the Nile Delta. The Nile, being the longest river in the world, was vital for the Egyptian civilization.
Who and How?
These pyramids are thought to be built by slaves of the Egyptian pharaohs. Scientists think that slaves were captured from their villages, and were forced to work in the pyramids. These monuments were constructed using building blocks of stone, which were sculpted and moved by thousands of slaves.
